FWB DAO: A Club of Cultural Thinkers in the Web3 Era

Exploring the Mysterious FWB DAO: A New Version of Thinking About the World

Friends With Benefits(FWB) is a fascinating DAO organization that is not just a cryptocurrency community, but also a private club that brings together artists, creative workers, and Web3 enthusiasts. Although its name may be misunderstood at first, FWB has evolved into a highly influential community, even attracting the favor of well-known investment firms.

FWB is a private club with over 2,000 members, requiring strict identity verification and the purchase of tickets worth nearly ten thousand dollars to join. Members can not only participate in various activities of the club but also engage in its operations and decision-making. The main activity venue for FWB is Discord, a server with over a hundred channels covering discussions in various fields from learning, art, and creativity to trading and lifestyle.

The purpose of FWB is to be a crossroads of technology and culture, gathering unique individuals who pursue a bright future. They believe that in the Web3 world, data and assets should be controlled by their creators, and open knowledge can benefit society. FWB brings together creators, rebels, artists, thinkers, and doers to discuss and shape the future.

The threshold for joining FWB is quite high. Applicants need to fill out a detailed form, which is reviewed by a membership committee of 15 people. The committee prefers applicants with unique backgrounds, especially artists, musicians, creative thinkers, and Web3 participants. After passing the review, they also need to hold community tokens worth nearly ten thousand dollars as a "ticket".

The membership of FWB is very diverse, including creative workers, artists, traditional entrepreneurs, and others who have a strong interest in Web3. The community has multiple sections, including public areas, learning areas, trading areas, NFT areas, creative areas, quality of life areas, and governance areas, maintaining a high level of activity.

In addition to online communication, FWB also organizes a variety of online and offline events. Regular online events each week include Coffee Time, Seed Club, MAX PAIN, Into the Weeds, and Lifestyle Hours, covering multiple themes such as creativity, Web3, and investment. Offline events are held in various cities around the world to facilitate face-to-face communication among members.

FWB has also introduced the concept of city subDAOs, lowering the threshold for membership in certain cities to promote local socializing and event organization. This reflects FWB's desire to integrate the digital world with real life.

Although FWB is not positioned as a productivity organization, it has developed some products, such as a weekly digest, "semi-finished" content, the Gatekeeper authentication app, and an NFT showcase auction platform. More importantly, FWB provides members with a platform to collide ideas and initiate projects, which has spawned dozens of new projects and DAOs.

In terms of organizational structure, FWB has only one full-time employee, but there are over 200 contributors and 31 core active contributors. They are divided into seven teams: Editorial, Membership, Product, City, Events, Partnerships, and DAO teams, each with its own responsibilities.

What makes FWB unique is that it is both a social club and a platform for thinking about the future. Members can enjoy social fun here while engaging in in-depth discussions on culture, Web3, and its societal impacts. This diversity and complexity make FWB an intriguing little world.

Recently, FWB received a $10 million investment, which will be used to expand the community. As they say, FWB is building a model that brings strangers on the internet together to redefine the way culture is created and funded. As FWB grows, we look forward to seeing how this unique community will influence and shape the future world.
