Trump Agreement - Vietnam Just Signed, China Immediately Responds Harshly
Immediately after President Donald Trump announced a new trade agreement with Vietnam, China promptly voiced its opposition, claiming that this agreement harms their economic interests. According to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the U.S. exempting Vietnamese goods from tariffs and imposing a 40% tax on goods originating from other countries ( which are transshipped through Vietnam is an unfair action. The spokesperson declared: "China firmly opposes any agreements made by trading away its interests in exchange for tax exemptions."
Commit to respond if interests are threatened The Chinese Ministry of Commerce warns of "resolute countermeasures" if other countries continue to negotiate with the United States in a manner that is detrimental to China. Beijing calls on countries to "stand on the side of justice and protect the multilateral trading system." At the same time, China also rejected the U.S. "reciprocal" tax policy, calling it a "unilateral bullying act that disrupts the global trade order." China asserts that only by "resolutely safeguarding its principles and positions can it maintain its legitimate interests."
The context of the US-China confrontation remains tense. Despite maintaining dialogue, US-China trade relations continue to be unstable. Last week, both sides reached an agreement regarding the export of rare earths, and the U.S. also lifted some restrictions on chip design software.
