SEC Chair Candidate with 327 Million Wealth Revealed Holdings! - Coin Bulletin
The nominee for the SEC ( chair, Paul Atkins, stated before the Senate hearing scheduled for Thursday that he has stakes in three companies related to crypto but does not hold any cryptocurrency directly.
According to Bloomberg, Atkins and his wife have at least 327 million dollars in net assets. According to ethical applications obtained by Fortune, Atkins was a board member at Securitize and owned a stake worth 500,000 dollars in the company's call options. He also had a stake worth between 250,000 and 500,000 dollars at Anchorage Digital. His share in Off the Chain Capital was up to 1 million dollars.
Donald Trump nominated crypto supporter Atkins for SEC chair in December 2020. Since former SEC Chair Gary Gensler left office on January 20, it is known that interim Chair Mark Uyeda has been leading the SEC.
Atkins had previously been appointed as an SEC commissioner by George W. Bush from 2002 to 2008. In 2009, he founded a consulting firm called Patomak Global Partners, where he worked with clients such as crypto exchanges and DeFi platforms. In 2020, he joined the advisory board of the Digital Chamber of Commerce, but he left this position following Trump's candidacy.
Senator Elizabeth Warren sent a 34-page letter raising concerns about her candidacy, including questions about connections to the crypto exchange FTX and potential conflicts of interest related to Trump's meme coins.
