India Suspends 📮 Postal Services to the USA 🇺🇸

India has temporarily suspended most postal services to the USA 🇺🇸 as of August 25, 2025. This decision stems from a new US executive order (No. 14324) 📜 which, effective August 29, withdraws the duty-free exemption for goods valued up to $800. 💰 As a result, all international postal items, regardless of value, will be subject to customs duties. 💸 ⚠️
Air carriers ✈️ serving the US have expressed their inability to accept postal shipments 📦 due to a lack of operational and technical readiness to comply with the new, still-undefined processes for duty collection. The suspension, which also affects other countries like France 🇫🇷 and the UK 🇬🇧, is a precautionary measure. However, letters ✉️, documents 📄, and gift items 🎁 valued up to $100 are exempt from the suspension and will continue to be delivered. The Department of Posts is working to resolve the issue. 🙏
