Japanese Prime Minister insists on interests, US-Japan auto tariff negotiations are at an impasse.

Abstract generation in progress

On July 8, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba stated that due to Japan's insistence on defending its rightful interests, both sides (Japan and the U.S.) have not yet reached an agreement. Japan will continue dialogue with the United States and seek to reach an agreement that is beneficial for both parties.

After past negotiations with the United States, Japan successfully avoided the situation where tariffs rose to 30% to 35%. The United States has proposed to continue discussions until the new deadline of August 1.

The United States' announcement of additional tariffs is deeply regrettable. So far, no consensus has been reached on the protocol, as Japan and the United States have had difficult negotiations, believing that Japan should not make concessions easily.
