The Central Bank of Iran has just imposed new operating hours for domestic cryptocurrency exchanges, allowing operations only from 10 AM to 8 PM, following a serious cyberattack worth 100 million USD targeting Nobitex — the largest crypto exchange platform in Iran.

The hacker group supporting Israel called Gonjeshke Darande has claimed responsibility, stating that they have infiltrated the internal system and drained all the hot wallets of the exchange. Notably, all the stolen assets, including Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, Dogecoin, and XRP, have been burned and are irretrievable.

According to Chainalysis, the motive for the attack was not profit but aimed at undermining the assets of the Iranian government. Nobitex stated that the incident has been contained, they are transferring all hot wallets to cold wallets and will use the Reserve Fund to refund users.
