The Israeli military announces a military reform plan to expand its forces.

On June 12, local time, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the launch of an extensive military structural reform and expansion plan, covering the army, navy, air force and homeland defense forces, aiming to deal with the defense shortcomings exposed after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. The main contents of the plan include: 1 new army division; rebuilding the previously dismantled 500th Armored Brigade; Expansion of two brigades deployed in northern Israel, among others. In addition, the Israeli Air Force will continue to expand its air defense system and plans to create a new attack drone unit to improve long-range strike capabilities and tactical flexibility. For its part, the Israeli Navy will focus on developing long-range combat capabilities, enabling it to have strike and strategic deterrence capabilities in the Mediterranean Sea and beyond.
