Oasys releases technical roadmap, bringing new momentum to blockchain game development.
Oasys Releases Technical Roadmap, Unveiling Three Key Strategies for Blockchain Game Development
As a Japanese gaming public chain dedicated to bringing Web2 players and gaming companies into the Web3 era, Oasys has been building underlying infrastructure for the blockchain gaming track. Recently, on the occasion of Oasys's second anniversary, it released an important update to its technical roadmap. This roadmap addresses current technical challenges and user pain points, proposing corresponding solutions and planning for short-term and mid-term technological development. The three core elements of the Oasys technical roadmap are application data availability, layer two interoperability, and ecosystem scalability.
Technical Challenges Facing Blockchain Games and Oasys's Solutions
Although the underlying blockchain technology has been continuously improved over the past two years, there are still many technical shortcomings to be addressed in the practice of the chain game public chain Oasys. Therefore, Oasys has updated its technical roadmap to tackle these technical challenges.
Continuity of game assets
In traditional Web2 games, if the game server goes offline, the game assets that players have worked hard to obtain will also disappear. Blockchain technology offers a potential solution to this problem. However, with the rise of modular technology architecture, new issues have also emerged — the lack of continuity in user assets.
To this end, Oasys has adopted an innovative approach: mirroring "game assets" on Layer 1 from Layer 2, providing permanent and continuous protection for user assets. Even if Layer 2 data is discarded, user assets remain safe.
Interoperability of Layer 2
Oasys's Layer2 is called Verse Layer, meaning that each second-layer network is an independent "small universe". However, interoperability between blockchain Layer2s has always been a challenge. Oasys is working hard to achieve interoperability between the various "small universes", with 10 currently running Verse Layers set to benefit first.
Oasys plans to introduce a cross-chain bridge, adopting a universal data format and standardizing APIs to achieve seamless interoperability between different Layer 2s. This will allow users to easily and securely move data and assets between games on Oasys.
ecosystem scalability
Building and maintaining a prosperous ecosystem is another major challenge faced by public chains. Oasys collaborates closely with ecosystem partners and existing Layer 2 operators to provide them with the necessary tools and resources to support ecosystem development and reduce technical barriers.
Oasys's first-layer Hub Layer provides game developers with all the tools and environment needed to create outstanding blockchain games. Additionally, the Oasys Verse Development Kit (Oasys VDK) allows enterprises to quickly access high-quality Layer 2, accelerating project launches and focusing on content development.
Roadmap focusing on technology updates and community support within 1-3 years
Oasys's latest technology roadmap outlines plans for the short term (within 1 year) and medium term (2-3 years) to ensure that its technology and ecosystem development can keep pace with the rapid changes in the Web3 market.
Short-term plan (within 1 year)
Mid-term Plan (2-3 years)
Oasys's Actual Progress
In terms of short-term planning, Oasys has already achieved considerable results. In May, Oasys launched the L2 chain XPLA Verse, with several well-known games set to go on-chain simultaneously, including the action role-playing game based on "Summoners War" and "The Walking Dead: All-Stars" adapted from the popular zombie comic.
In addition, the blockchain game "Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS-" based on the Japanese football manga series "Captain Tsubasa" has also been officially launched on Oasys. The game is jointly developed by Mint Town and KLab's subsidiary BLOCKSMITH&Co., offering an immersive experience where players can train and collect character NFTs from the original series.
In terms of expanding its ecosystem, Oasys has also achieved several large-scale collaborations this year. Recently, Oasys partnered with Japan's SBI Group to enhance its influence in the crypto gaming and NFT market in Japan. In February of this year, Oasys also collaborated with Kakao's Web3 gaming division, Metabora SG, to support the game publisher's expansion into the Japanese market.
Oasys's initiatives not only showcase its technological innovation and strategic foresight in the blockchain gaming sector, but also highlight its determination to collaborate with industry giants to jointly promote the development of blockchain games. As the technological roadmap is gradually implemented, Oasys is progressively realizing its vision of establishing a global standard for blockchain gaming, creating real value for players and developers while also bringing new experiences and opportunities to the gaming industry.
